ABSTRACT

Kayte Brimacombe lives in North London and is the mother of three children. Kayte talked with Roger Hancock, a lecturer at the Open University, about her experience of helping her son Gabriel to play in order to stimulate his wish to communicate with others. Kayte’s involvement in setting up play opportunities within the context of her home raises a number of considerations related to parental involvement in children’s education, schools learning from parents, and particularly, what it is for adults to become truly involved in children’s play.
