ABSTRACT

Deciding who the end-users of the pre-registration nursing programme might be is not so straightforward. The student considers the programme's product to be their own education. The service employer considers the programme's product to be a qualified, registered practitioner. The client/patient considers the programme's product to be the nursing care that they receive. Although there is a high degree of overlap in what these very different users want, there is obviously quite a wide spread of programme outcomes to be achieved before we can say that we are delighting each and every one of them. This would be a daunting prospect if we did not have two excellent tools to deal with achieving multiple objectives – namely, the IBL curriculum and quality management.
