Developing students’ rights and responsibilities through the PSHE curriculum

Sydenham School is a large girls’ comprehensive school in Lewisham in Inner London. There is a wide ethnic mix in the school, reflecting the rich ethnic diversity of the local area. Just under half the pupils are white. With 138 refugee pupils, there is a much larger proportion than nationally (26.8 per cent) of pupils for whom English is an additional language, which reflects the local area.
