ABSTRACT
It is not immediately obvious how to audit political freedom in the United Kingdom. No domestic yardsticks exist in the form of a written constitution or a Bill of Rights. No official body is charged with the duty of monitoring the position of human rights in the UK, nor does the government effectively assess the effects of intended legislation on its international obligations under human rights treaties like the European Convention on Human Rights.
