ABSTRACT
A pronoun (pro+noun) is literally a word that takes the place of, or fulfils the function of, a noun in certain specific circumstances.
There are several types of pronouns in Italian (as there are in English): personal, relative, demonstrative, possessive, indefinite. Each type of pronoun is covered separately in this chapter.
