ABSTRACT
When talking or writing, we often need to refer to something or somebody without naming them, usually because they have already been mentioned earlier and we want to avoid repeating the name or object; references to `this' or `that', `he' or `she', `him' or `her', and `it ', are the connec ting thread of any discourse.
