Sometimes the cause of an event can be attributed to one person, or group of people, or to one factor or set of factors (expressed by a noun or pronoun), in which case one of the following prepositional phrases can be used:
grazie a `thanks to' a causa di `because of' per via di `because of'
È grazie a Federico che mio figlio è ancora vivo oggi. It's thanks to Federico tha t my son is still alive today.
