ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The black perspectives on issues critical to the educational achievement of black children are presented in this chapter. It will introduce the reader to the perspectives of black social scientists on matters related to the educational achievement of blacks. I believe that it is incumbent upon black social scientists to evaluate research and writing in the area of educational achievement carefully and to put forward the black perspectives. This chapter attempts to meet this objective.
