ABSTRACT
In 1963 the Committee on Higher Education published its report, and in its outline on procedure dismissed nursing with these words:
We received evidence about training for nursing and some of the occupations associated with medicine. Since this does not form part of higher education as we defined it, we have not specially considered this wide opportunity for girls. But we are aware that at certain points contacts with universities and colleges are now being established.
