ABSTRACT

The aims of the school ground interventions project were to: • provide design processes, participation mechanisms, information, support

and resources to enable schools to find out about their school grounds and current use, and then to provide ideas for redesigning and carrying out environmental improvements;

• monitor the effects of improvements and changes in pupils’ use and perception of grounds and the degree to which they felt involved in creating changes;

• monitor the implementation of improvements from the view of teaching staff: their perception of the levels of participation of pupils and staff, the practical problems involved and opportunities which the project raised.
