ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to compare the changes in management and labour identified in Parts II and III. This will be carried out by a comparison of salient differences and similarities in the style of equipment modernisation and then in management and labour. We will also consider contributory factors for such differences and similarities, and see if such phenomena can be explained in terms of organic or contrived compatibility in management. The results of the comparison made in this chapter will reflect the dynamics between technology, managerial strategy and labour unions.
