ABSTRACT

The flexible, unpredictable nature of working with the unit-pair of baby or toddler and carer may be quite a different experience for many. Models of workshop, group-work, facilitated or led sessions which work well in other community contexts may not transfer well. Time for reflection about the ways of working with adults, be they parents, childminders, daycare workers or nursery practitioners, and being clear on aims and intentions of the work

become important in the process of developing work in this area. Ideally, the process of reflection is supported and built into regular supervisory or review sessions with a colleague.
