ABSTRACT
In the first place we have the use of the unchanged word. In a great many cases the same form may serve in various wordclasses, the context alone showing which is meant in each case. If it is a substantive, it is taken to be in the singular, if a verb (the base of a verb), it may be either the infinitive, the present indicative or subjunctive, or the imperative.
