ABSTRACT
Written and oral activities based on the book that has been read as described above have a double benefit. First, they reinforce literacy skills by focusing activities on the limited, familiar area of the chosen book. In this way the pupils’ needs for a more repetitive approach are met in the context of a story which they enjoy reading, writing and talking about. Second, teacher time is released by providing semiindependent work for children.
