ABSTRACT

Reading, writing and drawing can be enjoyable and mutually reinforcing. As the activities are undertaken fairly independently, however, there is a danger that the tasks may encourage mindless copying which does not develop either reading or writing skills. It is important, therefore, that the pupil always has opportunity to read the completed task with the teacher, parent or other competent reader. This should happen on repeated occasions, for example, by going over previous work before adding to it or before starting on a new task.
