ABSTRACT

Assessment is an essential part of good teaching. There should be regular assessment of pupils’ IT capability. Properly planned and co-ordinated formative assessment will be helpful in clarifying what needs to be taught. This should be recorded in such a way that it is clear how the whole assessment process leads to the summative assessment reported to parents. Moderation ensures that assessment is consistent, and can provide fruitful opportunities for professional development. The IT curriculum model adopted will have some impact on the process of assessment, recording and reporting.
