ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at some activities that support the development of teachers’ and trainee teachers’ IT skills, and their knowledge and understanding of how IT is managed and used in secondary schools. The acquisition of IT skills is essentially an active process. Learners must be actively engaged otherwise they will not acquire skills. They may need access to reference manuals, learning guides, help sheets, tutorial exercises, and on-line help, and advice from an expert practitioner. The acquisition of IT skills is often a time-consuming process so that learners must find sufficient time to devote to learning. However, the most important aspects of IT skills acquisition are the involvement and motivation of the learner.
