ABSTRACT
This essay by Newman’s longtime colleague Dan Friedman provides an opportunity to relook at Newman’s methodology from an entirely different vantage point-the theatre. Having examined, in previous essays, the practice of developmental performance as manifest in social therapy, we now examine it as developmental theatre. This discussion is particularly timely, as more and more psychologists, psychotherapists and educators become involved in efforts to synthesize theatre and psychology.
