ABSTRACT
Protozoans are unicellular (occasionally described as ‘acellular’ or ‘noncellular’) eukaryotes. A few algal protoctistans are multicellular, but the gametes, if they are present, are not produced in gonads, nor do the zygotes develop into embryos.
