ABSTRACT
Fluid and air may collect in the pleural space and require correct positioning of a sufficient number of appropriately sized chest tubes. It is often difficult to adequately place the tube with only two-dimensional imaging as with a portable chest X-ray. CT scanning with placement after or during the scan is beneficial, as is drainage with surface ultrasound guidance.
