Burn injury

Estimates suggest 175 000 acute burn injuries present each year to Emergency Departments in the UK. Whilst the majority of these injuries are relatively minor, an estimated 16 100 (9%) will require admission and, of these, about 1000 will require intravenous resuscitation. Approximately half of these are children under 16 years of age.
