ABSTRACT

Conclusions In the majority of cases, the authors prefer to use a No. 6 Kendall stent placed through the urethra and sutured with a 5/0 Prolene stitch to the glans. The free end drips urine constantly into a single nappy, or, in the older child, the Luer-lock may be closed for several hours to permit periods of social continence. The authors prefer to avoid drainage bags, which are likely to get caught and exert traction on the meatus. In their experience, simple dressings and simple drainage systems usually work best.
