ABSTRACT
Any excreted substance can be used, provided that it is not metabolized, stored, or produced by the kidney, and it does not affect RBF. An infusion of p-aminohippuric acid is often used to measure RBF, although its clearance is only about 90%. Normal RBF in a resting adult is 1.2-1.3 L/min.
