ABSTRACT

Routine management is described in Chapter 5. Postoperatively, patients with known IHD need to go to an area where they can be cared for appropriately. A good operation is useless if followed by myocardial infarction. The proper setting can be anything from the normal healthy patient’s passage first to recovery and then to the normal ward through to several days in the intensive care unit. The correct choice obviously depends on the individual situation. The important thing is that the choice is made positively and that the patient is not accommodated in what happens to be available by default at the end of the procedure.
