ABSTRACT

Postoperative phase Reversal of neuromuscular block should be attempted only if there is evidence that recovery has commenced spontaneously (e.g. by nerve stimulation or by ventilatory efforts). If not, have no hesitation in deciding to continue ventilation. Recurarization is a real danger. A low body temperature combined with a prolonged action of nondepolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents can produce an extended paralysis. If the body temperature is low (<35°C) at the end of the operation, reversal may be impossible until the body is rewarmed.
