Parts I and II are retitled collectively Legitimacy versus Industrialism, 1814-1848, and Parts Iii and Iv (themselves renumbered I and Ii) are retitled collectively Freedom versus Organization, 1776-1914. The Preface is omitted and the Bibliography and Index divided. A new, unsigned Introduction is added to each volume.
