ABSTRACT
The main theme of this book has been the diversity of physical conditions and of human activities in the world. Two outstanding questions of our time have been central issues in innumerable debates: how big can the ‘cake’ of production get before adverse conditions arise and how can the ‘cake’ be sliced more equably? What follows is no more than an outline of how these questions might be addressed.
