Subsistence and settlement

The first expansion of agriculture in Denmark extended over a period of about 1500 years. In archaeological literature this period is referred to by the rather unfortunate name, ‘the Funnel-Necked Beaker culture’. After the latest calibrated radiocarbon dates this period is believed to have begun about 4200 BC, which is 1700 years earlier than was believed just twenty years ago.
