ABSTRACT
This chapter: • provides an overview o f the teaching approach known a s GAME which has
been developed to provide essential ingredients for a second language learning programme.
What is GAME? GAME i s the Global Analytical Method o f teaching the reading o f English. Global means learning to read whole meaningful sentences within a meaningful context before having to analyse them into their components - the words. Analytical means analysing the words into their components - the syllables - and then analysing the syllables into their components - the letters.
