ABSTRACT

Virtually every college now employs a system by which Examining Boards are permitted to treat particular candidates as ‘special cases’. A student may be a special case for a variety of reasons. Some of the more common reasons are illness or accident shortly before or during the examination, illness or death of relatives, or, indeed, any painful or adverse circumstances which in the Board’s opinion may be going to affect or have affected the candidate’s performance. We hope that as a matter of policy all Examining Boards will be willing to treat dyslexic candidates as ‘special cases’.
