ABSTRACT
When the question of career choice comes up, the central consideration must, of course, be the student’s own wishes. Considerable sensitivity is needed, however, on the part of parents and counsellors if they are to strike the right balance between positively encouraging her on the one hand, which is often very welcome, and putting her under undue pressure which is not.
