ABSTRACT

In 1957 Kagel studied electronic music in Cologne, Germany, where he has lived ever since, conducting the Rheinisches Kammerorchester (1957-61) and forming the Kolner Ensemble fur Neue Musik (1962-94). He has been awarded numerous distinctions and prizes including the Koussevitsky (1966), Mozart (1983) and Erasmus (1998) prizes.
