Assessment of landscape effects

An assessment of landscape effects deals with the effects of change and development on landscape as a resource. The concern here is with how the proposal will affect the elements that make up the landscape, the aesthetic and perceptual aspects of the landscape and its distinctive character. Scoping should try to identify the full range of possible effects. But discussion with the consenting authority and stakeholders during the scoping process may conclude that some effects are unlikely to be significant and therefore do not need to be considered further. All other possible effects must be considered in detail in the assessment process.
