ABSTRACT

The world saw many economic changes between the 1940s and the 1990s. It is not too much to say that anyone who had gone to sleep in the post-war years and woken up again in the last years of the century, would have been faced by so many innovations that they would hardly recognize the environment they once knew. Certainly, no other period of history of equal length could compare with the developments of that half-century on a world scale.
