ABSTRACT
The European Union’s (EU) role in aerospace has traditionally been characterised by the modesty of both its ambitions and impact. Aerospace serves as a stark contrast to a sector such as steel where the authority of the EU is well established and where member governments have conceded significant powers to Brussels.1 However, despite the retention of national prerogatives in this domain by member states, the EU’s role in aerospace has recently assumed greater significance.
