ABSTRACT
I travelled up to Shenzhen from Hong Kong by train, a journey of about forty minutes. I had read about the school in a leaflet teachers brought with them to the International Special Education Congress in Manchester in July 2000 and I was particularly struck by the description of the school as ‘the biggest comprehensive boarding special school in China’.
