ABSTRACT
Suction-related vertigo may be considered the complement of vertigo related to being dropped. In fact, these two forms of vertigo correspond to two phantasies evoking complementary corporeal resonances: the intense anxiety about being dropped by a containing object which flies open and spills its content is the direct opposite of the anxiety about being kept prisoner for all time by a container that does not allow its content to escape.
