ABSTRACT
Earlier chapters have examined how students from different groups perform at school and how their levels of achievement vary. We have examined a range of factors that may help to explain some of the variation in performance, including those related to both home and school. We have also explored the findings from research on school effectiveness and school improvement, and highlighted the ways in which government policies may affect attainment.
