The rise of territories The neolithic appears to have been dominated by its major monuments, the causewayed enclosures, barrows and mines. Their massive size has been mainly responsible for their survival. The simple domestic sites, mostly small farmsteads, are still largely unknown. Consequently we get an unbalanced picture of life between 4200 and 2500 BC.
