ABSTRACT

The pace of programmes tends to slow down a little after the breakfast show as it is assumed most people are where they are going to be for the rest of the day by 9 or 10 a.m. Traditionally this zone of broadcasting was aimed at housewives, but it is now recognised that daytime radio is used by a wide variety of people either at work or travelling, as well as those at home. According to Jane Hill of the Lincs FM group, daytime radio is about connecting with the audience wherever they are and should give the impression that ‘we’re all here together’.
