ABSTRACT
Various classifications exist and different terms will be encountered. Some children will change their position in the classification, for example satisfying the criteria for a fully accommodative esotropia, then subsequently breaking down to become a partially accommodative esotropia. Some will occupy two positions at the same time. Accommodation is not measured in routine clinical practice. Why some individuals become binocular once hypermetropia is corrected and some remain esotropic is unclear.
