ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on our first experience of the research world. Since qualifying 4 years ago, Claire has been teaching a Year 3 class at St Malachy’s and is responsible for the administration of the annual sacramental programme and also coordinates ICT (information and communications technology) and art. Sarah has been teaching for 3 years; she teaches a Year 2 class at St Malachy’s and, as such, is responsible for the execution of the Key Stage 1 National Tests; her other responsibilities are science, music and health education. In addition, both are involved in extra-curricular activities, invaluable for providing contact with children as they move up the school. In Sarah’s case this involves running a number of music sessions, and Claire is the school netball coach.
