ABSTRACT

Probably the earliest Christian apologist. According to Eusebius. who preserves the only known fragment of this work. Quadratus wrote (ca. 120-130) in Asia Minor an apology to the Roman emperor Hadrian (117-138). The fragment comments on the continuing testimony of persons healed and raised from the dead by Jesus. some of whom Quadratus claimed to have known. This Quadratus is not the bishop of Athens (late second century) mentioned by Jerome. Feast day May 26. CPG I. 1060. TLG 1652.
