ABSTRACT

In a systems approach to building a Web-based learning environment, it is necessary to remember all of the student and faculty support components that comprise the education organization. Determining the changed roles and requirements for each of these components affects all departments and administrative levels of the institute. Some components often neglected in the planning process are:

• Course registration. • Grades and transcript transmittal. • Help Desk (computer technical support, hardware and software). • Research (library). • Advising (personal and academic counseling). • Tutoring. • Textbook distribution. • Marketing. • Alumni associations.
