ABSTRACT
The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee is a book about humans. We are so close to the chimpanzee and the bonobo that the label ‘third chimpanzee’ is to the point. But there are also major differences. The other primates are almost extinct whereas humans with their languages, their science and technology dominate the Earth. How did we arise in the course of evolution? What can we learn from our own history?
