ABSTRACT
This chapter is divided into three main sections. In section 11.2, the principles of numerical and physical modelling are outlined, and the application of these techniques in geotechnical engineering is discussed. In section 11.3, the estimation or measurement of soil parameters from in situ test data is described. In section 11.4, a number of methods of ground improvement are outlined.
