ABSTRACT
Perception verbs often select unusual clausal complements. This tendency is remarkably consistent across the whole lexical class, and across languages. In this chapter I would like to discuss some ideas that may help us to understand this structural peculiarity, and tie it together with certain interpretive properties of perception verbs.
