Seeking differences between more than two levels of an independent variable (linked to Chapter 16)

The information provided in this appendix will allow you to calculate the statistics by hand or with a calculator but the techniques shown are not always the conventional ones that you would find in most text books. They are provided more to enhance understanding and to allow the checking of computer printout. The workings will be given to five decimal places so that the results are consistent with the summary tables from the computer printout, once they have been rounded up or down; you do not normally need this level of precision.
