The Bisexual Plot

I earlier called The Childrenk Hour a "bisexual plot" although it is never clear what the erotic relations among Karen, Martha, and Joe really are, because what makes it work as a plot is the bisexual tension among the major characters. Freud's essay on jealousy allows for a very similar reading of Othello, where again, for my purposes, it matters less whether Iago (or Othello, for that matter) is or is not "homosexual" than that the relationships among Iago, Othello, Desdemona, and Cassio are all, in brilliant and complicated ways, sexualized.
