ABSTRACT
Together, the case studies paint a comprehensive, detailed, fully textured and unfortunately somewhat bleak picture of how these parents’ expectations of schools and teachers were unrealised. This wide array of data portrays powerfully how their own motivation as parents seems to have been left untapped, in a similar manner to the academic potential of their children. What is valuable, however, are the insights into the lived realities of home-school relations from the parents’ perspective.
